Someone Worthy

He was perfect - young, gorgeous, dark, and more interested in Stan from across the room than anyone had up close. In their minds, they were already lovers. Both had the whole night mapped out.

Then Stan's ex kissed him - deep, involved, dispassionate - and the other man suddenly went cold.

"Let him have someone worthy," Salome said, and slunk off towards the other man. Stan could only stare. Like always.

He caught his reflection in his wine glass. He was aging, but he had the feeling he'd been falling apart at the seams since birth.

Stan sighed, and the night darkened.
